Three Phase Test Separator

The three phase test separator is a mechanical device to separate and measure oil, gas and water rates. Our portable test separators accurately gauge well fluid production levels, providing our customers with valuable well information as it regards a well’s present performance and potential.
The components of the test separator are as follows:

  1. The vessel, comprising of pressure and level regulators, internal components (coalescing plates, weir plates, oil/gas compartments, etc) and safety devices.
  2. The piping necessary for the different phases and metering (equipped with corresponding metering devices).
  3. The skid and its protective frame. Built-in shrinkage tester, sampling points and barton recorder are also parts of the test separator.

The major internal components aid separation. The coalescing plates prevent droplets larger than 15 mm from being carried into the outlet gas line. The mist extractor extracts fine liquid droplets still in the gas stream. The extracted droplets coalesce into the oil phase.

            Vessel Capacity
The vessel capacity for each phase depends on the conditions of pressure and temperature and the following factors:

  1. Size of vessel.
  2. Vessel internals such as coalescing plates and mist ex                       tractors.
  3. Liquid density and viscosity
  4. Vessel operating liquid level
  5. Required liquid-gas separator efficiency in terms of size of liquid droplets to be separated from gas phase.
